Like all Ceres Organics products, Organic Hulled Millet is wholesome and pure. You can enjoy the natural deliciousness of millet the way it should be. One of the oldest foods known to man, millet is packed with nourishing plant-based goodness, including protein and high levels of dietary fibre. With its nutty, slightly sweet flavour and light, fluffy texture, millet is great in just about anything -soups, salads, sitr-fries, or as accompaniment to main dishes.

As a slight aside... All foods can be categorised as being either ‘Acidic’ or ‘Alkaline’ by the effect they have on the body.  A body that is too ‘acidic’ is potentially a breeding ground for bacteria, viruses and diseases e.g. cancer, as these cannot live in a highly oxygenated, alkaline environment. The good news is that - Millet is the only grain that retains its alkalising properties once cooked!!

Ingredients: Organic Hulled Millet

Origin: China

Certification: Packed down from Certified BioGro Organic 25kg sack

Enjoy Me...

  • Perfect fluffy millet every time....Soak millet for 12 to 24 hours in filtered water to remove phytates with 1tsp vinegar, lemon juice or whey. Drain and rinse well. Add to a saucepan with twice the volume of water and a pinch of salt. Bring to the boil over a high heat and then turn to very low and simmer gently for 20 minutes until millet is cooked and all water absorbed. Let it sit with the lid on for another 10 minutes then fluff with a fork.

How Interesting...

  • It is high in protein at around 12%. Protein helps to balance blood sugar, keep you full and rebuild body tissues.
  • It is high in phosphorous, which is essential for bone repair, energy and DNA production.
